Synthesis, structure and catalytic properties of complex Cd(Im)2(p-CH3C6H4SO3)2(H2O)2

Abstract: Cd(Im)2(p-CH3C6H4SO3)2(H2O)2 was prepared by solvothermal synthesis using cadmium nitrate tetrahydrate, sodium p-toluenesulfonate and imidazole as raw materials. It was characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and X-ray powder diffraction. The crystal structure was determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The crystal structure analysis shows that Cd(Im)2(p-CH3C6H4SO3)2(H2O)2 belongs to the Pca21 space group of the single crystal oblique system, and its cell parameters are a=2.861 3(5)nm, b=0.580 49(10)nm, c=1.544 3(3)nm, α=90°, β=90°, γ=90°, V=2.565 0(8)nm3, Z=4. The composition and structure of the complex were verified by infrared spectroscopy, the stability of the complex was proved by thermogravimetric analysis, and the purity of the complex was demonstrated by X-ray powder diffraction. The catalytic performance of Cd(Im)2(p-CH3C6H4SO3)2(H2O)2 was investigated with Knoevenagel reaction as an example.
