Preparation and characterization of Fe and Zn co-doped polyaniline microbial fuel cell cathode catalysts

摘要: 为解决微生物燃料电池(MFC)阴极催化剂耐久性差、氧还原反应(ORR)动力学缓慢和成本高的问题,制备一种Fe、Zn和N共掺杂的多孔碳作为空气阴极催化剂.电化学研究表明:合成的催化剂Fe/Zn-NC-0.9对氧还原反应具有较好的电催化活性,电荷转移电阻为5.6 Ω、交换电流密度为53.3 mV/dec、最大功率密度达到(1 253±20)mW/m2.此外,还评价了Fe对氧还原反应性能和最大功率密度的影响:中等掺杂含量的Fe对提高催化活性起着至关重要的作用,而Fe和N共掺杂的协同效应促进了阴极性能.

Abstract: In order to address the issues of low durability, slow kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR), and high cost of cathode catalysts for microbial fuel cells(MFC), a porous carbon co-doped with Fe, Zn, and N as an air cathode catalyst was prepared. The electrochemical studies demonstrated that the synthesised catalyst Fe/Zn-NC-0.9 exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity for the oxygen reduction reaction. The charge transfer resistance and the exchange current density were measured at 5.6 Ω and 53.3 mV/dec, respectively, while the maximum power density was at(1 253±20)mW/m2. Additionally, the impact of the Fe doping level on the ORR reaction and maximum power density was assessed. It was found that a moderate Fe doping level is essential for enhancing catalytic activity. Furthermore, the cathode performance is improved through the synergistic effect of Fe and N co-doping.
