Abstract: A series of heat sensitive crosslinked P(MMA-CO-BA) microcapsules were synthesized by emulsion polymerization with leucocompound as a core material and crosslinked P(MMA-CO-BA) as a wall material. The microcapsules with different glass-transition temperatures were obtained by changing the BA mass fraction in the monomer. The size distribution, surface morphology, thermal stability and glass-transition temperature(t_g) of the resultant microcapsules were characterized using Malvern particle size analysis, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), thermo-gravimetric analysis(TG) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), respectively. The results indicated that the microcapsules showed higher thermal stabilities. The microcapsules with smooth surface and spherical shape were prepared at different BA mass fractions. The mean particle size of the prepared microcapsules decreased with the increasing BA mass fraction in the monomer. t_g of the microcapsules were 115.0,110.3 and 94.3 ℃ when BA mass fractions were 5.0%, 10.0% and 15.0%, respectively.
