Fabrication of hollow porous carbon nanofibers by coaxial electrospinning

Abstract: Core/shell polyacrylonitrile(PAN)fibers were prepared by coaxial electrospinning using PMMA solution as the core,PAN solution as the shell,ZnO as the pore former.After calcination and acid treatment,the hollow porous carbon nanofibers were obtained.Morphologies of the fibers were characterized by transmission electron microscope(TEM); and the effect of solution concentration,voltage and flow rates on core and shell diameters were also investigated.The results showed that the optimized condition for the satisfactory hollow porous carbon nanofibers was 10% PMMA,10% PAN,6% zinc acetate,15 kV,1.0 mL/h inner rate and 1.5 mL/h outer rates.
