Changes of Th1 and Th2 cytokine levels in uterus of abortive mice induced by Listeria monocytogenes

Abstract: To explore whether Th1 and Th2 cytokines play important roles in Listeria monocytogenes(LM)-induced mouse abortion,the pregnant mice and mouse macrophages were infected with LM. Embryo survival rates were calculated. Th1 and Th2 cytokine levels were analyzed in uterus and medium of mouse macrophages. Results showed that Th1 cytokine levels increased significantly in uterus of abortive mice induced by LM. Embryo survival rates and Th1 and Th2 cytokine levels showed no changes in uterus of mice infected by listeriolysin O(LLO)-deficient LM(Δ hly LM). After infected by Δ hly LM, Th1 and Th2 cytokine levels showed no changes. Therefore, LM-induced Th1/Th2 imbalance in uterus can causes the mouse abortion,which provides scientific basis for clinical prevention and treatment of LM-induced abortion.
