Inhibition of carbon steel corrosion in solution saturated with CO2 by ginkgo leaves extract

Abstract

Abstract: The active ingredients of ginkgo leaves were extracted by ultrasonic-assisted extraction.The inhibition effect of ginkgo leaves extract(QLE)on carbon steel corrosion in NaCl solution saturated with CO₂ was studied.Experimental results showed that QLE is a good corrosion inhibitor with maximum inhibition efficiency up to 84.7% and to 94.7% when combined with thiourea.Polarization curves reveal that QLE combined with thiourea behaves like a mixed-type corrosion inhibitor.
