Abstract: In order to improve the efficiency of high-voltage electrostatic separation, the characteristics of discharge current on the roller surface were explored. The experimental device of high-voltage discharge was made. The influence of different location wires on discharge current on roller surface was studied. The results indicated that:under the same conditions, with the decrease of corona wire diameter, the discharge current became bigger. The current on the surface of roller was close to a normal state. When two corona lines were used to discharge, the spatial distribution of the current had larger range and higher intensity. When three corona lines were used to discharge,at one position, the current distribution measured was wider and relatively stable where the angle between two outer corona lines and the distance between the corona line and the surface of the roller were 60° and 45 mm respectively. In this case, the angle between two outboard peaks was about 72°.It is advantageous for the electric charge of the material to be sorted,as the efficiency of sorting is improved. The simulation provides a theoretical foundation for electrostatic separator design.
