Abstract: The tenebrionid beetles that harm the stored goods directly or indirectly are closely associated with human economic interests, and are the most important part in the integrated pest management. With 277 species(subspecies)of 98 genera of 9 subfamilies known worldwide, this group accounts for 1.11% of the total species of the family Tenebrionidae. To date, 72 species(subspecies)of 32 genera of 5 subfamilies have been recorded from China. Being capable of thriving in the relatively dry storage environment, this special beetle group has adapted to the warehouse and bedroom habitats. Based on a large number of literatures, this paper summarizes the taxonomic, species diversity, distribution and occurrence of pests around the world. The main problems and shortcomings in taxonomic and the concerns for future research are preliminarily discussed, which can provide a guidance for the research and production management of storage pests in China.
