Preparation of graphite oxide by an improved low temperature Hummers method

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to explore whether Hummers method can obtain graphite oxide with good degree of oxidation at low temperature.In this paper, a new Hummers method which is safe and effective at low temperature is studied based on the principle of gravity deposition.Through exploring the influence of five factors, such as low temperature, medium temperature, high temperature time, high temperature and potassium permanganate dose ratio, on the degree of graphite oxidation.A simple and reasonable Hummers method was finally obtained by adopting a new method of impurity removal.The experimental results show that a good oxidation ratio can be prepared at 45 ℃.
